Alterre X Uye Surana Holiday Trunk Show

On the 17th of December, Alterre Shoes hosted a quaint & cute little holiday trunk show with Uye Surana, an exquisite lingerie brand that has its studio in TriBeCa.
That is exactly there the trunk show was held! When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Harmony (who remembered me and it made me smile) who told me to come in, relax, have a drink and stay a while! And that I did.

There were two different cocktail oils made from Lavender and Rose and whiskey, seltzer and lemonade to mix them with. There was Uye Surana's beautifully articulate lingerie spread out on a table with their home made natural fragrance oils and in the back a table set for Alterre. An old fashioned suitcase packed Alterre style with their incredible shoes, which were also laid out and two frames asking who is your "alterre ego?"  Jackie or Marilyn? It was all adorable!

Everyone was super friendly and we all discussed how amazing both brands were, and what was to come in the next year! Alterre's shoes are made in Brazil in a super chill factory where its always a party! Within that conversation we spoke of how crazy the weather has been,, Seriously what is up with it? 70 degrees in December!!

We all drank, ate cupcakes and were merry! I had my horoscope read and it seems 2016 will be a lucky year for me! As I am sure it will be for both Alterre and Uye Surana!

If you have yet to check these brands out, please do so, they are so unique, detailed and charming - just like their founders! Shilpa you were definitely missed!

If you want to learn more about Alterre, check my previous blog post on their Launch Party!
Below are some pictures of their awesome versatile shoes, which you can switch out the straps depending on the mood you're in that day. Their shoes come in different styles such as The Jackie, The Marilyn, The Billie & The Elsie. Another great thing is that they give back! 5% of their profit is donated to Restore NYC.

I left with a sweet goodie bag containing a mini bottle of Jameson, Uye Surana goodies & a She Who Rose roller ball (which smells delicious), with a smile from ear to ear because of the great company and even more love for these brands!

PLEASE drop everything and go check them out now! Alterre & Uye Surana GO GO GO!

Cheers to 2016, you Alterre, Uye Surana and to you all <3

Arrojo's Nightmare on Hudson

I was grateful to be invited to Arrojo's Halloween bash. Arrojo is a high end salon in TriBeCa, with prime real estate and a school in it as well.

They hosted a fun party on Thursday night the 29th of October for some Halloween festivities consisting of snacks, drinks sponsored by Hangar 1 and to watch Nightmare on Elm Street in their auditorium.

I had a blast! They had masks made by Steven Klein and eyewear designed by Kerin Rose Gold (the woman who designs lady Gaga's eyewear) and we could try them on and take photos with them!

The drinks were delicious, the monster mash was our go-to!

Finally after mingling and inhaling the light and airy kettle corn, we sat down to watch the movie.

Out our way out we were given awesome goodie bags with their Arrojo hair spray and gel!

It was an awesome time, thanks Arrojo!

Santera Tequila Launch Party

I had the pleasure of going to the Santera Tequila launch party, hence the post title, and taking my sweetie, Nicky.

The launch was Monday September 28th at 7 pm at The Box in LES. I have heard how crazy fun The Box is and I was excited. But the amount of fun I had was not expected!

The launch had free cocktails made with Santera tequila; they had a choice of Margarita, El Incendio and one more drink that I cannot remember the name. We had el incendio all night- it was delicious! Made with their Santera blanco, Campari, grapefruit and sage simple syrup. Such a yummy refreshing drink. There were waitresses walking around with bites from Leyenda, which were SO good. They had pupusas!!!! NO ONE ever has pupusas I was exhilarated.

There was an awesome DJ playing such a great mix of music, but he stopped so that the founder could make a speech and show us a short film about who Santera Tequila is. The film was great, it took place in Jalisco and showed the jimadores working and they spoke of their work as well.

After the film, we all toasted to the good life and the party proceeded!! There was a seductive fire-eating dancer, she was awesome and danced to Black Magic Woman. There were flamenco dancers and even an illusionist walking around. Basically, it was the best party ever.

It was a blats!! And definitely made the rest of the week bearable! Who knew partying on Mondays was so much fun?

It was an incredible party, with incredible people, incredible shows and incredible drinks! They gave us a good bag on our way out with a USB, a bottle of El Incendio, dried sage, a cocktail book and matches, all in a cute canvas bag.

Best of luck to Santera Tequila! It goes down so smooth and tastes so yummy. Check them out and watch their story here :)

End of Fashion Week After Party @ Goldbar

What a great way to end off a great week. Going out to an open bar after party hosted by the one and only, Jon Harari, was the cherry on top of a fun fashion week!

Jon Harari always has the best events, he knows everyone and is a ton of fun! He threw a birthday party for his photographer and good friend and decided to also make it a fashion week after party, since it took place in the last day! September 17th!

I invited my good friend Lee, which it happened to be her birthday as well and I of course took my sweetie.

We dressed to impress and had an awesome time.

Goldbar was a beautiful place, good drinks and fun music. And of course great company!

Backstage NYFW: Chiara Boni's La Petite Robe Fashion Show with Aveda

I was so incredibly excited when I found out I was invited backstage at Chiara Boni's show with Aveda!! I made the accommodations that I needed to make in order to make sure that I could be there. I, along with a few other bloggers, were invited to take it all in.

The show was Wednesday September 16th at the ArtBeam in Chelsea. A beautiful open space that usually hosts fashion shows and other exhibitions.

If you don't know who Chiara Boni is, I advise you to drop everything and check out her website, her show and her looks. Chiara is an Italian designer with fresh fun looks inspired by every day life.
This SS16 show was magical- A Delicate Rose; full of blush tones, corals and pinks, you felt as if you were walking through a garden in full bloom at Spring's peak. It was beautiful.

I had the chance to meet and speak to Jon Reyman, the head hairdresser for Aveda and Spoke & Weal, who had come up with the hair look for the models and also with Janell Geason, the head makeup artist who came up with the natural garden glow make up look.

Amid the chaos of models getting their hair done, their make up done, their nails lacquered, interviews and dress rehearsals, I was lucky enough to get my hair done and speak to both Reyman and Geason.

Michelle, a lovely hair dresser for Aveda and Spoke & Weal, told me that a hot trend right now was small braids that made a fun statement, she proceeded to cornrow the part of my hair to just make a fun accent. I loved it!

Jon Reyman created the look he was going for on a model for us, he told us "We're putting in a few loose finger waves and we're making it really messy, very crunchy and we're gonna make it a little airy with this halo of texture. Then we're putting some dry shampoo in the back and were doing a little twisted barrel curl and mess that up. The hair is gonna be very strong, wet and then dry, it's gonna have some airiness to it and some edge to it, I think it really kind of youngs up the look. It's very cool and really on point for the season.

Reyman says that the trend for SS16 is all about really done and undone hair, it's an accessory to the clothes. Whether it will translate to the consumer is up to them and how they want to take it. I say go for it! If there's one thing you take away from Hair trends for SS16 is definitely texture, messiness and controlled chaos. Fun ;)

Janell Geason spoke to us with a model that she had just finished making up. She explained "As you can see the look has definitely taken inspiration from Chiara Boni's colors of her line, which is all about pinks, corals, reds, so think almost blossoming flowers in the spring. That is really what I thought about. The complexion is just really beautiful, just tinted moisture, kind of where needed, very fresh. Concealer where needed and then I just used out translucent mousse powder for just a really light dusting of powder. Nothing looks heavy. For brows, we just kind of gave her a little bit of shape, it wasn't about making them super dark it was more about just taking her natural shape and enhancing it. For eyes, it's just about taking a little bit of a lighter shade than her skin tone. Just to give a little sheen to the eyes, it's not about eyeshadow its about right in the center to make her look super fresh. Mascara on the outer corners to make it look wide awake look. For cheeks, we took inspiration once again from the colors, I used two different cheek colors, I used one called apricot whisker, which is more of a warm peachier, coraly tone, which I put along the C shape and just along the apples of her cheek we did a rose blossom. So it's just two different cheek colors to create a really fresh spring look. For her lips, what we've done is used our purple sage lip liner, which is your lip color but a little bit deeper. We lined it and diffused it out and we used one of my favorite colors for spring, its called Wild Fuchsia, which works well with the line, because it's all about those beautiful fuchsias. And then just to mix it up again, we took just in the center of the lip a nourishing lip elixir in sunkissed melon, so once again it's kind of this play on coralies and pinks and fuchsias, kind of combined together to create something that is just fresh and really pretty and very Italian girl- which is very Chiara Boni,"

I had a great time backstage meeting awesome artists and hearing a little bit about upcoming trends and about their work! I advise you to go check out Chiara Boni's collection because it was so beautiful! Think florally spring!

And that is when the best quote of all time pops into our heads "Florals for spring, groundbreaking!"

Alterre NY Shoes Launch Party

I was cordially invited to the Alterre shoes launch party on Tuesday September 15, by the super-sweet and down to earth founder of the great company herself, Shilpa.

The launch was a 1940's themed party with a jumpin' jazz band at a speak-easy styled social club that is members only, The Norwood Club.

Upon walking in, you had to say a secret password in order to get your cocktail tickets. "Do you dig my jive?"

Indeed, I dug it! Svetlana and the Delancey Five, filled up the room with great music and got the crowd to start swinging!

The specialty cocktails they were serving were: Gimlet, Manhattan and Hanky Panky- the cocktail made especially for their launch.

Now on to the best part, the SHOESS!
Alterre is an innovative brand that lets you mix and match your shoes, while having comfort, quality and fair labor in mind.
Their styles are influenced by 40's starlets, hence having their shoe styles named after them: the Jackie, the Marilyn, the Billie, the Tilda and the Elsie. (The Tilda and Jackie are my favorites!!)

Ever carried multiple shoes to work or driven yourself crazy thinking which shoes to bring along on your next trip?
Alterre was created with you in mind!

"With our patent pending technology, you can mix and match your shoes to fit your lifestyle. With over 65 combinations, it is easy to transform your look from day to night and pack light for your next vacation. Customizable and comfortable, they are the perfect pair for any occasion. These shoes are as versatile as you are!"

The best part? 5% of their proceeds are donated to the women's abuse shelter, Restore NYC. So not only is this company stylish, comfortable and unique, they give back too!
"You get to do good while you look good!"

Shilpa and her fellow Alterre ladies did an incredible job setting up this launch. The 40's theme really portrayed the vibe of their shoes.

Congrats ladies!! And I wish you the best of luck and continued success!!
